Enter at the top of the house

Organise your next friends & family or stag/hen celebration at Courtyard Barn in the medieval village of Tideswell. It's in the heart of the Derbyshire Peak District National Park, with spectacular limestone gorges and riverside rambles straight from the door - no need to use the car. This big barn conversion (and separate cottage) offers a total of 8 bedrooms, 2 kitchens, 4 bathrooms and a drying room -  plus a large open-plan dining room, enough room for 10 - 20 adults to eat together comfortably around the same table - then relax by the log burning stove.

There is also a large games room with a dance floor, disco lights and sound system (iPod/MP3 compatible), table tennis, table football, a beer/wine fridge and several comfy sofas and bean bags.

Outside, the garden/patio has magnificent views over the village. Turn round and look in the other direction and you gaze over open countryside of fields and sheep. And what better place to end the day than in the real ale pub literally across the road. (Order the night before and they will provide a full English Breakfast for your group, only £6 (approx) per head).

An unusual feature of the house is that you first enter through a door in the roof - though this is at ground level! The house is built into a hillside, with one entrance at the top and the other at the bottom! This interesting architecture makes Courtyard Barn a totally topsy turvey residence, packed full of character! (It also makes it very hard to photograph, which is why you don't see many pictures of the outside.)

Note: While the main house and gardens are not suitable for loud music (because we do have neighbours) you are welcome to have party celebrations/disco in the separate Games Room which is part of The Outback cottage looking out on open fields. Bring your music on an MP3 player, smartphone or tablet and you can connect to the in-house speakers via docking station or minijack headphone socket (lead is supplied). There is also good internet wifi in the Games Room

Thank you once again for the use of Courtyard Barn. We all found the house inviting and very homely. I will certainly be in touch in the near future about another potential booking. If there is anywhere you would like us to review the property on, please let me know and I will gladly do so.

Hi Kirsty & Marcus. I just wanted to say thanks for a great weekend in Tideswell. The guys thought the house was fantastic and it was a superb base for the Stag. I even managed to knock together an industrial quantity of Thai curry for everyone using the mega pans in the kitchen.

Dear Kirsty & Marcus. My family and I have just returned home from a fantastic Christmas at Courtyard Barn. The house is amazing, the village is beautiful.  Such a great picturesque setting for walks and views. We thoroughly enjoyed it all. We will certainly return one day and definitely recommend to others.
